Ok, so much for posting pics after my last update. I really do mean to keep up on the blog but it just doesn't happen so I apologize. and now that it's been so long I just don't remember what to post and what's gone on in the last few months. We did get in a sturgeon fishing trip the end of April which was a lot of fun. Lee and Sheri also went so the boys had a great time with Nana and Papa and we caught some fish too.

The month of May is pretty much a blur at this point other than a great trip to the Portland zoo. My sister Penny and I took the kids and met my sister Melissa and her kids there. All the kids had a great time and it was quite a handful keeping all 5 of them together going from place to place. I think the kids had just as much fun in the hot tub at the hotel as at the zoo.

June has been quite busy thus far. The 1st weekend Sheri and I had a yard sale at the house so we got rid of quite a bit of "stuff" The weather was amazing so we had a great turnout. Sheri stayed the night a couple of nights to help prepare so Sam and I seized the opportunity to share a quiet meal. It's our 1st dinner alone since Porter has been born.....let's just say it was long overdue. Sam surprised me by getting a jacuzzi suite for the night too so it was a little weird leaving the boys for the night but it was SO very nice to have some time alone.

Last weekend we had quite a houseful. My mom had surgery on Wed. so she stayed a few days. My brother flew in from LA and my sister and Zoey were also here to celebrate Wyatt's 2nd bday. My friend Rhonda from AZ was also in town so we had all sorts of fun. I can't believe Wyatt is already 2 (well, he will be on Friday but we celebrated early) Crazy how time flies.

Well that's about it I guess. I will try and be better about posting more often.....but I'm not making any promises. :-)

Wyatt is good!

So I have lots of pictures to post from the last couple of weeks but wanted to post and let everyone know that Wyatt is good and back to normal. Here is what happened: He woke up a couple of weeks ago (Sun. 4/3) with a fever and it came and went for 2 days but no other symptoms so he got a few doses of Tylenol and ibuprofen and he was good to go. Well, that next Saturday (4/9) he woke up with a fever of 102.9 and as the morning went on, the left side of his neck starting looking like it was swollen. So we went to the dr. and they thought he had either a bacteria or viral infection in his lymph nodes or paratid gland (which is right next to the lymph nodes) so he was given an rx for meds and we were told to come back if it turns red (like a sunburn) and is hot. Well, wouldn't you know it, we woke up Sunday morning and it was red and hot and even more swollen so off to the dr. we went. Once we got there, the dr. took one look at him and said it's not good and we can't afford for it to get any worse so he wants Wyatt to be admitted to the hospital to start antibiotics as soon as possible. So off to the hospital we went....(and me still trying to not freak out too bad in the meantime) We get there and get him hooked up to the iv for antibiotics and fluids (since he hadn't eat or drank hardly anything the last 2 days) They drew blood while they were putting the iv in so they could run tests and said they would have results back in 24 hours. So nothing to do but wait....since now what they are concerned with is if the bacteria had reached his blood which would not be a good thing. I was able to run home and gather some things like his pillow pet, his stuffed puppy and his blanket. On Monday, we woke up looking a little better....still not eating too much and battling a fever off and on but hanging in there. The blood results came back negative which meant it hadn't reached his blood but they watch it for 3 days (if it turned positive, they said they would be notified IMMEDIATELY) so on Tuesday he was looking way better and eating a little more and he hadn't had a fever since the afternoon before which was great since they would not even consider letting him go home until he has gone 24 hours without a fever. Tuesday afternoon his iv came out so they opted to start him on oral Clindamycin which is a real challenge with little ones since it's pretty foul stuff. Well, he did extremly well taking it so now it was a matter of him getting a couple of doses in him before we can go home. He is feeling well enough now he can go into the little playroom and Porter has come to visit a few times as well. We were even able to take him up to the cafe with us for a little dinner too. so by late Tuesday night, they were pretty sure we were going to get to go home on Wednesday (which could not come soon enough for me....was about to go crazy!) and so it was explained by the dr what they thought went on: the earlier fever indicated something was going on maybe something like staph or strep in his throat..they think the throat because I guess when your body is battling an infection like that in your mouth or throat, the lymph nodes contain specialized cells that fight off germs are the first to jump in and help the fight. Well, with them helping out the fight, the bacteria jumped on in and infected them and when they get infected, it causes them to swell and its called Lymphadenopathy. and the redness on the neck was the infection affecting the tissue around the lymph nodes. so anyway, Wednesday morning he was feeling really good and back to his normal little onry self. The dr. gave him the ok to go home so we were out of there by around 11am. Woo Hoo!!!!! It was a pretty scary experience just not knowing what was going on and what caused it really. We just finished up his meds and other than 1 little area that is still a little hard to touch, he doing spectacular. Saw the dr again yesterday and she said he looks great too. The only thing to worry about at this point is according to the dr, in cases like this, there ia a 1 in 10 chance that this could come back on the other side within a month. We hope that is not going to happen. Thank you to Sheri for taking such good care of Porter...who by the way had his 1st sleepover with Nana and Papa and did just fine! He had a great time. Thank you to my wonderful family for being there for meand being my support. Thank you to Amy for coming to visit us and bringing me a latte (you are the woman!!) thank you to Frances for coming to visit and bringing along Jeffrey the giraffe for Wyatt.
Will post pics in a bit

last bit of snow

so I'm trying to be good about updating the blog so I thought I would share some pics of our latest snowman. The snow was finally about the melt when the boys wanted to build one last snowman....we have such a great time, usually Porter has to put ears and a tail on it too (don't know where he got that from) so here some pics from the week.

My little Wy-guy saying "cheese"

pic of Porter.....I thought it would show his newest black eye a little better but it didn't...... so the newest one came from playing with daddy. Porter was running up and down the hallway while Sam would throw a pillow at him, of course trying to miss, well at one point Sam said "I should really quit while I'm ahead" and low and behold it was the next time that he threw the pillow, hit Porter in the back of the head which propelled him forward and happened to be in front of the stairs so he fell and hit his eye/cheek area on the stair. it's all fun and games until someone gets a black eye....lol.

Porter saying cheese

the boys and our snowman.....he is a little tipsy which I think comes from having one too many.....(notice beer in hand) Sam participated in part of the building.....I wonder which part?
and then of course it rained overnight and our little guy melted but Drake was able to find the licorice that was used for the mouth as a little treat the next day.

so that was our exciting week.... a drunken snowman and a black eye. pretty exciting stuff 'round these parts.
My dad is here visiting the next few days so the boys are excited to see their "buddy"
That's about it for now. Everyone have a great weekend!!

Wyatt the screamer!

just had to share this video.... Wyatt has the loudest scream (for such a little guy) and he uses this scream to let you know when he's not happy, when he wants something, when he wants your attention, yeah.... pretty much all the time..... so for those of you who think your children are loud in the store, restaurant, etc... just think of Wyatt. (we are hoping that we he starts talking more that he will use his words instead of the scream but I'm not sure we are going to be that lucky) Enjoy!

This one's for Nana

So it's been awhile since the last post and Sheri (aka Nana) has been asking for an update so this one's for you.....
First things first.....we woke up to find it very cold outside this morning, thermometer said 2 degrees. We have been feeding wood into the fire and its still only 73 inside....we know its cold outside when that happens. We've had snow on the ground for about 2 weeks now since its been too cold to melt any of it. I think I'm ready for spring right about now.

Last weekend Sam went sturgeon fishing with his buddy Mike. They got a few but none were keepers. They had a good time despite the cold weather. The boys and I headed over to Roseburg to visit and celebrate my mom's birthday.

Some pics of this kids and my mom... and yes, she had to hold Wyatt still to take this one....lol

more pics of the boys...... this is Wyatt putting on his own hat to play outside (it's backwards) but he was pretty proud to put on his own hat

the boys snuggling in Porter's bed watching a movie

boys in the snow...we had so much it was up to Wyatt's thighs

my handsome little guys. Once I take the picture Porter's new thing to say is "oh, that's a good one" (which thinking about it, is exactly what I say....kids are funny)

Our new art for the mantle......

Rather than recap everything that has gone on in the last few months I will just say it's been a good 2011 so far and we have been good and the boys are growing so fast we are just trying to enjoy every minute. I will try to be better about posting more often. (and hopefully this post will be help Nana get her "nana fix")

Our little snowman

So it snowed here a few days ago but it was very powdery so we weren't able to make a snowman.....but today, the snow is a lot more solid so it was a perfect day to make a snowman. The sun was shining and temp is around 44 so it was great.
Some pictures from our morning.....

Porter saying "Merry Christmas" which is his favorite thing to say these days. He says it everytime Sam leaves for work and to everyone at the store, as well as Nana and Papa when he talks to them on the phone.
