Porter's birthday

checking out his new buzz

Last week seemed to fly by - we were busy running errands and getting stuff done for Porter's party. But I was able to squeeze in a lunch with my former boss Melinda....of course brought goodies for the boys. Thanks for coming over Melinda, it was great to see you and thanks for the gifts!

Then Thursday afternoon my brother came over and stayed for the weekend. I was so happy he got to be here for the party. Porter has given him a new name - "Patch-ur" It's so cute to listen to Porter say his name over and over....... My mom, Lee, Penny and Zoey got here Friday night so Porter had lots of playtime with Zoey.

On Saturday afternoon we had lots of people here for the party and it was a great time! My friend Frances and her family got Porter a battery operated 4-wheeler and let me tell you it was a huge hit! Porter's friend Tanner came over and brought his little tractor and the kids took turns all riding - they did so good sharing considering there were 6 kids in all. I got a cake from Costco and it was sooo good. It was a white cake with chocolate mousse filling and cream cheese frosting. If you ever need a yummy cake go to Costco!

While the party was going on, Sam was busy tending to the smoker. He smoked a couple of chickens and his famous ribs. All the family stayed for dinner and as always we had a great time and ate way too much. It was so nice to have our friends and family celebrate with us, thank you to everyone for sharing this with us and the boys. This morning Patrick took off and headed back to LA and everyone else headed back to Roseburg. The house seems so quiet, it's almost eerie.
Not much going on this week. Still trying to figure out what we are going to do for the Easter weekend. Everyone have a great week!

Fishing was awesome!

We had a great time camping and fishing last weekend. The weather was so nice, especially considering it was March. Friday night it was a little chilly in the tent so both the boys woke up not happy. Lee and Sheri were nice enough to let Wyatt sleep in the camper with them Sat night. Porter slept in the tent, he was such a trooper and did fine. We had an awesome day of fishing on Saturday. Sam and Lee headed out around 7am and had about 4 bites by the time we caught up with them around 10. All together we caught 15 fish but none were keepers...darn it! The biggest we had was 42 and 1/8" and they have to be at least 43". But it was so fun anyway, Porter touched the fish and thought that was pretty cool - he kept holding out his hands and saying "big fish" A few pics from the weekend:

After about 4 hours in the boat, the boys finally pooped out

The boys fished again on Sunday morning but didn't get not one bite. Me, Sheri and the boys hung out at camp and got everything together to go home. We walked along the river and Porter loved throwing rocks in the river. We had lunch and then headed home. We look forward to more camping trips this summer.....especially since Lee and Sheri have a new camp trailer that we will need to help them break in. (ha ha ha) All in all, it was a fantastic weekend.
We had Porter's b-day party yesterday and it was a great time! I will post more on that later.

Wow how time flies

i'll start out with some pictures we took at Lee and Sheri's..........I think this one of Wyatt looks SO much like Sam, they have the same expression when it comes to taking pictures...ha ha

A great picture of Porter with nana and grandpa

A cute little smile from Wyatt

So as usual, I have been a big slacker when it comes to blog..... but this time I do have a valid excuse...I have lost my camera! I took the battery out to charge it and when it came time to put the battery back in, the camera was MIA. I have looked everywhere, I don't know what the heck happened to it. I'm sure it will turn up eventually, especially if I buy a new one.

The hard thing about not posting for so long is that I can't remember what has gone on for the past month and a half. Let's see.....

Lee and Sheri made it back safe and sound from their 7 week trip to Arizona and they were needing some Nana and Grandpa time so they stopped in on their way and stayed the night. Then last week, the boys and I headed over to Prineville on Thursday to visit for the day. Ever since they stopped by with their camper Porter has been saying "Grandpa, camper" so Lee thought it would be great to take Porter with him to the cabin to load up their camper. Porter had a great time helping Grandpa and even I was ok.....LOL. Wyatt and I stayed and visited with Nana while the boys were gone. We had a great time.

then on Saturday we headed to the Sportsman show at the fairgrounds. It was pretty much the same as it always is, lots of displays and guide services. Lee and Sheri met us there with their friends Eric and Sondra so we had a great time visiting with everyone there.

On Sunday, the boys and I went to a birthday party for one of Porter's little friends. We then had dinner with Frances and Ron. Frances has a Wii and she has the Gotta Dance game....oh my gosh, it is so fun!!!! We just dance our butts off....and Porter loves to dance too! He loves "Who let the dogs out" And then Ron got the hunting game from Cabela's so we played it too...that is really fun too! There is one where you shoot bears and if you don't shoot them, they get you....I was going crazy shooting....I think my competitive side defintely reared it's ugly head. When we left Ron said to Frances "man, Shannon is very comptetive...I want to be on her team!" ha ha

This week we are busy packing, we are headed out on Friday to go camping and fishing with Lee and Sheri. We are going to the mouth of the Deschutes by Biggs so it should be lots of fun. The weather report is saying mid 60's for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I bought Porter a new fishing pole and rubber boots for his bday for him to try out. Should be lots of fun! (hopefully Sheri will take lots of pictures so we can post some when we get home)

Sam has been keeping busy with work and projects at home. He built an overhang off the side of his shop so we had a covered place to put the boat. He has to finish the roof but that's it. He also has been busy with the neighbors doing meat. Their latest endeavor was making their own bacon. The got a pork shoulder and cured it and then smoked it. They fried some up while they were slicing it and it was so good! Men and their meat.....I tell ya.....LOL.
And this Saturday Porter will be 2! I can't believe 2 years has already gone by....time flies when you're having fun. He's talking so much and starting to put a lot of words together. Yesterday we were eating some french fries and one fell on the ground and he said "french fry fall down" Amazing how much they learn every day.....and of course how much they repeat too. We are definitely having to watch what we say as Porter always picks up on the one word in the sentence that he shouldn't.
We are going to have a party on the 27th since we will be gone camping plus my mom and my brother flew to South Carolina this week for my cousin Matthew's wedding.
Happy St Patty's day to everyone. Frances came over and prepared corned beef and cabbage for me so it's in the slow cooker right now and it smells yummy! I'm SO looking forward to it tonight.
That's about it. I'll try and post more pictures when we get back from camping. Everyone take care!
