Some new pics.....finally!

The weekend went by way too fast, as always. On Saturday, we had a family outing to Costco and it must have been exhausting for Porter because he slept pretty much all day after!

This picture I would like to think that even though he's sleeping, he's giving mommy a smile for the camera but in all actuality he is probably just passing gas (and thinks it's funny like his daddy)....LOL

I just can't get enough of him, I like to stare at him all day. We are very lucky to have a healthy baby boy. He's very mellow and hardly ever cries, only when he gets his diaper changed or he's hungry.

Sam worked on stripping the boat down to the bones so he could start redoing everything. Here is a picture of the outside.....

Up front in the bow, he found there was a cubby hole...well, needless to say he found about 30 stow-aways......no telling how long they've been in there.

We are excited to get it all done so we can plan some fishing trips maybe later on this summer.

1 week old today!

Wow, time sure flies by, Porter is already a week old today! He is getting bigger and still eating like a champ. My camera battery just died so I will have to wait to post some pics I took today.

I do have some pics to post that I was able to download. My friend Rhonda and her family were visiting this week for spring break from Arizona and here is her with her family.

Dominic (13 and what a little hottie!) Jason who's holding Noah (almost 3) and Rhonda holding Zane (15 mo) All her boys are so adorable and it was so nice to see her! Love you Rhonda!

Here is another of Noah holding Porter....Noah was so cute with him, he kept saying "I want to hold my baby Porter" .....and he was nice enough to give his "binki" (pacifier) to Porter too. We'll have to wait and see how that one goes....LOL.

Doing good....

Been busy the last couple of days. Yesterday, Porter had his follow up appt at the hospital - he has gained 2 oz since we left on Saturday and he's a little yellow but they said it wasn't too bad. And since he is doing REALLY well with the breastfeeding, and pooping like a champ, they are not worried. And then today, he got the little snip, snip. He did really well and hardly cried, thank goodness because I don't know that I could have handled that. He's gained a 1/2 oz. since yesterday and other than a diaper rash, he is doing absolutely amazing and he's such a good baby. The only time he gets fussy is when he's hungry, and when he's hungry, he means business!

WOO HOO, Porter's here......finally!!!!

Hello all! Sorry it's taken so long to get some pics posted, have had a lot of company. Well, here he is - our little man Porter Montgomery Houston. Born on 3-21-08 @ 7:48am, weighed in at 9lbs 6oz (ouch!) and 21.5 in long. He's doing really well and eating like a little machine, one thing he didn't have any problems catching onto.

We had a great night, he woke up about every 3 hours to feed and then would go back to sleep. He is very mellow and just takes it easy. Drake sniffs him out but doesn't think too much about it.

Today is the day!

Well, I think we've finally made it to the end. Only 3 hours to go and I'm so excited..and a little nervous. I'm just happy that we will have a baby boy before too long. I wanted to thank everyone for their well wishes and encouraging words, it really means a lot.

Thursday at noon

I talked with my dr. yesterday and we have set up an appt at the hospital for noon on Thurs 3/20 to break my water. He said this should put me into labor within 4-5 hours and if not, they would start on medicine to help things along. I'm so ready!! Nothing has been happening the last few days so I figure at least this way it's no more waiting. Sam has nicknamed Porter "cling-on" since it seems he is not going anywhere soon. :-) We are both nervous and excited and just ready to have a baby boy join us and not have anymore of this waiting around.
Wish us luck and hopefully the next time I post it will be with baby pics!!!

Due date is today....but nothin!

Well, today is my actual due date but still we got nothin! Little bugger, he is not budging. Weird to think I've actually been pregnant for 40 weeks and I have to say I think it's a little too long but such is life.

Sam is out at the lake floating the boat to make sure it doesn't have any leaks or anything before we put any money into it. Let's hope he doesn't drown! :-)

I had to post another picture of our adorable nephew Dane, it's such a cute picture, and such an awful big yawn for a little guy.

Porter's room

I'm finally able to post some pics of Porter's room. The rooms ended up being very large when we did the remodel, I guess more room for toys! This picture is from the doorway into the room.

This one is the view from the middle of the room on the opposite wall from the windows.
And one of his crib up close. My friend Rhonda gave me the crib set which is underwater theme, very cute.

Kicking back.....

It's now Friday and I'm just kicking back and relaxing. My dr. stripped the membranes on Wed. and he said if it was going to put me in labor, it would be within 24 hours.....but nothing! I think this little guy is going to come out when he is ready. I have an appt for next Thurs 3/20 and he said if I haven't gone into labor by then, he will break my water. Maybe he will decide to come on his actual due date, which is 3/16 but we'll see. We've decided this waiting around isn't working so back to life as usual.
Not much else going on. I was hoping the whole nesting thing would kick in and I would be cleaning my house from top to bottom but nothing yet.....my husband is very disappointed! LOL

Our adorable nephew

Here is a picture of our adorable new nephew, Dane Jakob Houston. Mom, Dad and baby are doing great.

I have to say how nice it is to not have to work. I like not being on a time schedule and just having some time to myself. Drake and I have been walking a lot which we both enjoy and it's good for him too, to be spoiled for a little longer before Porter comes and he's not the baby anymore.

I still can't post any other pictures and it's beginning to irritate me. It keeps giving me an error message so I need to research what the problem is.

I will hopefully post more this afternoon after my dr. appt.

Dr. appt......rescheduled

I was supposed to go to the dr. yesterday but they had to reschedule for Wed. 3/12 @ 4:20pm since my dr. got called out on an emergency c-section. Oh well, I've realized that I just need to enjoy this last little bit of peace and quiet! On a better note, yesterday was my last day of work so it will be nice to have some time at home and just relax.

I have a picture of our little nephew Dane Jakob but I'm still unable to attach pictures, seems the website is having some trouble. I will try again later.

That's about it for now. Just going to take it easy for the next couple of days and hopefully we'll have baby pics to post soon!

Congratulations to Clint and Tanya!!!

Congrats to Sam's brother Clint and his wife Tanya - they had their baby!!!! Dane was born early this morning via c-section and everyone is doing well. She wasn't due until end of March but Dane just couldn't wait to come out. I have to say I'm a little jealous but extremly happy for them. :-) I can't wait to see some pictures.

I've been trying to post some pictures of Porter's room but it's not wanting to work so I will try again later.

We had book club last night which is always fun. If anyone wants to read a good book, Water for Elephants was our pick. It was very good.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend, I will post more after my appt tomorrow. Everyone cross your fingers we will soon have a baby boy too!

No changes......

Went to the dr. this morning, no change since last week. He didn't end up rupturing the membranes, said the birthing center is no place I want to be right now. Apparently it's quite the mad house, he's delivered 4 babies within the last 12 hours. So he asked that I come back on Mon 3/10 and we will proceed from there. I guess a few more days won't kill me....it's just the waiting that's killing me. Everyday it's like "will it be today?" I just want to hold my baby boy already!!

Wonderful shower

Had a great weekend at the shower. Instead of baby gifts, everyone brought "pamper Shannon" gifts. I got a massage, pampering at the spa, a lot of gift cards, some pj's and some wonderful bath goodies. It was wonderful and I thank everyone for the fantastic gifts and for coming. Here is a picture of the cake and the flower arrangement Melinda put together.

My mom came over for the weekend so it was very nice to spend some time with her and Lee. My sister didn't make it because Zoey was very sick. She is feeling better now, thank goodness, poor thing.

Sam didn't have much luck with his fishing. He caught one but it wasn't big enough. He had a pretty interesting trip up on Friday night. He was driving along and the wind was blowing pretty hard and picked up the bedliner and blew it out of the truck. So he stopped to pick it up and everything else that blew out with it and went to get back in the truck and he had locked his keys in his truck. Needless to say, he was not a happy camper! (I can't help but chuckle...LOL) All in all he had a good weekend and it didn't rain too much on them.
